Move-In / Move-Out Inspection Checklist
Walk through the unit room by room and write down the condition of each area when a tenant moves in and again when they move out. A clear record you both sign can make security deposit conversations much easier and help prevent surprises later.
How to use it:
- Print a copy before the tenant moves in.
- Walk through the unit together and note the condition of each item.
- Sign it, date it, and give the tenant a copy. Adding dated photos helps too.
- Use the same checklist again at move-out to compare.
Tip: Some states and cities have their own rules about move-in condition reports and security deposits. Check your local rules to see if anything extra applies to you.
